David Lukaska - Class of 1998
David earned four varsity letters in Track, three in Football and played one year of JV Hockey. David was a Varsity Captain for both his Football and Track teams his senior year. In Football, David won All-Conference, All-Metro and All-State recognition as a running back, was a Star Tribune All-Metro Player-of-the-Week in October 1997 when he set the EHS Single Game Rushing Yardage Record of 341 yards, a record which still stands today. David currently works as a website designer/IT Project Manager for Best Buy. He lives in Edina with his dog Bailey and is engaged to be married to Jennifer Presthus (EHS class of 2000).
Steve Olsonoski – Class of 1971
“Steve O” as he is known by his friends, family and professional wrestling fans, was the oldest of six kids growing up in the 1960s in Edina. Steve played three years of football, three years of hockey and three years of baseball, leading the conference in hitting his senior year. Steve played all three sports at Gustavus Adolphus College and after graduating from college, Steve spent over 10 years as professional wrestler. Steve currently lives in Bloomington with his wife, Lisa, and works as an Investment Advisor for Focus Financial. He spends his free time with his four grown sons and plays a lot of golf.
Greg Buth – Class of 1997
Greg’s game was basketball. Greg played 4 years of varsity basketball for Edina High School. During his senior year, he was named to the 1st All-State team. As a senior, Greg was a team captain, led the team in scoring and still stands as the 2nd all-time high scorer in Edina High School history. A Mr. Basketball finalist his senior year, he was the first ever Edina player to be selected as a finalist. Greg went on to play 4 years of NCAA Division 1 basketball for Dartmouth. After graduation, Greg played one year of profession basketball in Spain. Currently Greg is a commodities trader in Chicago. He lives there with his wife and fellow Edina '97 graduate, Shannon (nee Johnson), their three sons Kase (6), twins Ben and Shay (4) and baby #4 is expected in October.
Kalen Anderson – Class of 1997
Kalen joined the Edina High School varsity golf team as an 8th grader and was named to the All-Conference and All-State teams each of the five years she played for Edina. During those five years, the Edina girls team won the Minnesota State Golf Championships four times including Kalen’s senior year as team Captain. Kalen also played basketball for four years and graduated Edina High School as the Class of ’97 Valedictorian. Kalen played four years of golf for Duke University helping them win the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Golf Championship in 1999. Kalen graduated from Duke in 2001 and played on the Ladies Professional Golf Futures Tour from 2001-2005, In 2008, Kalen took over as Head Women’s Golf Coach at the University of South Carolina and has led the team to seven straight NCAA Championship appearances. She was named 2015 South Eastern Conference (SEC) Coach of the Year. Kalen currently lives in Columbia, SC and spends a lot of her free time volunteering at several charities in the Columbia area and traveling the world.
Keith Anderson – Class of 1994
Keith was a year-round athlete during his time at Edina High School, playing three different sports each year and earning a total of eight Varsity letters, Football (2), Hockey (4) and Baseball (2). His senior year, Keith was a Captain of all three Varsity teams and was named to the All-Conference teams for Football, Hockey and Baseball, as well as receiving the football team’s MVP award and being recognized as an Academic All Star each season. Keith attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Keith graduated in 1998 as a “Distinguished Graduate” with Academic, Military, and Athletic Distinction. After graduation while continuing his Air Force service, Keith attended law school at The Ohio State University. Keith is currently a Partner at the Birmingham, AL based law firm, Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP (“Bradley”). He lives with his wife Jaime (nee Melton), Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force and their three children Abigail (16), Ethan (13) and Allison (11).
Bernard “Bud” Bjerken – Edina High School & Edina East High School Coach and Athletic Director
Bud grew up in Minneapolis, playing football, baseball and hockey for Minneapolis Roosevelt High School, where he was a multi-sport team captain and honored as the Athlete of the Year for his graduating class in 1958. Bud played all three sports for Macalester College earning an additional 10 varsity letters. Bud is a member of the Macalester College Athletic Hall of Fame. From 1972-1976, Bud was the Head Coach for the Edina East Tennis teams and also an assistant football coach. In the fall of 1977, he took over as Athletic Director of Edina East High School. In 1981, Bud was named Athletic Director for the re-combined EHS, the role he held for another 13 years, retiring in 1993. Bud presided over more than 50 Edina High School State Tournament Championship teams. In 1994 Bud received the Classic Lake Conference Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions in Athletic Administration. Bud and his wife Marilyn still live in Edina where they play a little golf and spend time on home improvement projects when they are not traveling or watching the sporting activities of their five grandchildren.
Barbara Wenger Kemp - Class of 1998
Barb earned an impressive eleven varsity letters in three sports (4 in Cross Country, 4 in Track and 3 in Nordic Skiing) while at Edina High School, earned academic honors and was Team Captain her senior year in both Cross Country and Track. Barb attended Purdue University and ran Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track. She held the school record for SteepleChase for 2 years, and helped the Boilermakers win the Big 10 Outdoor Championship in 1999 and Indoor Championship in 2000. Barb is currently the Owner and Creative Director of her 2ndfirm, Kemp 3D in Brandon, Florida that provides high quality, photo-real 3D images for builders. Barb lives in Lithia, FL with her husband Kevin Kemp and their two boys, Garrett and Delaney.
