History:

Each year since the inception of the Edina High School (EHS) Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997, the Edina Athletic Booster Club (EABC), in association with the Edina High School Athletic Department, has sponsored an annual Banquet for the Edina Athletic Hall of Fame inducting members of the Edina High School sports community from the 50's to today. 

Philosophy:

The Edina High School Hall of Fame is a FRIENDRAISER not a fundraiser. Our purpose is to conduct an event which brings honor to the school by highlighting the accomplishments of its alumni, coaches, and boosters. The rich tradition of Edina athletics over the years is one the community feels a deep sense of pride in. To build on that pride, the Hall of Fame provides the opportunity to sustain the memories and share the moments of the past with former inductees, teammates, and boosters. 

Selection Committee:

A Selection Committee shall be established and maintained for the purpose of selecting Edina Athletic Booster Club (EABC) Hall of Fame (HOF) inductees. The HOF Selection Committee shall be comprised of the following individuals:

1. Principal of Edina High School (Non-voting member)
2. Assistant Principal/ Director of Athletics
3. EABC President
4. EABC Vice President
5. EABC HOF Committee Chairperson
6. Five (5) additional committee members appointed by Assistant Principal/Director of Athletics, EABC President and HOF Committee Chairperson for a term of two (2) years with the possibility of reappointment.

• The Selection Committee shall be chaired by the HOF Committee Chairperson who shall be responsible for coordination of committee duties and meetings throughout the year.

Nominations:

Any alumni or friend of Edina athletics may submit the name or names of nominees for induction into the Edina Athletic HOF. Nominations must be received no later than May 15 to be considered by the Selection Committee for that year’s HOF induction. Any nominee not selected for induction will remain on the HOF nominee list for a period of five (5) years from the date of their nomination. The HOF nomination form.

Criteria for Induction:

A candidate, in order to be considered for induction into the Edina Athletic HOF, must qualify in one of the following categories:

1. Athletic and Personal Achievement - Edina High School graduate, living or deceased, who performed with excellence and lettered in a varsity sport, has demonstrated good character, and has graduated from EHS ten (10) or more year prior to their induction.
2. Edina Coaches - A current or former EHS coach, living or deceased, who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, character, and athletic achievement as a coach at Edina HS.
3. Edina Athletic Booster - A person who has been exceptional, a loyal volunteer, and devoted supporter of EHS athletics.

Selection of Inductees:

The HOF Selection Committee shall vote by June 15 each year to induct not more than eight (8) total nominees from the following categories:

1. Athletic and personal achievement: A maximum of six (6) former athletes per year.
2. Edina Coach: A maximum of two (2) present or former coaches per year. The Selections Committee may opt to make no coaching selections in any given year.
3. Edina Athletic Boosters: A maximum of one (1) Edina athletic booster per year. The Selections Committee may opt to make no Edina athletic booster selection in any given year.

Information provided in the applicants nominations providing the basis for HOF induction consideration shall be confirmed by the Selection Committee before selecting a nominee for induction.

Induction of Members into the Edina Athletic Hall of Fame:

Once a person is inducted into the Edina Athletic Hall of Fame, as either a former athlete, a coach, or an Edina athletic booster, they are entered into the Edina Athletic Hall of Fame and will not be considered to be entered again under a different category. 

Unless otherwise determined by the Selection Committee, a banquet will be held to honor and induct new members into the Edina Athletic Hall of Fame during homecoming week of the fall football season. 

Bylaw Amendments:

The Edina Athletic Booster Club Hall of Fame induction bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members of the Selection Committee.
